As My boys are now young men I'm realising there are still some skills I haven't passed on- eg- Budgeting more fully for the future, how to wade through what you want to do with your life. So these are the things I'm working on now. Reconnecting and reconnecting and maintaining those connections as their lives change quickly. Working out how not to be intrusive but there as a friend and father. How not to impose my beliefs but be an example. I'm lucky that life has been kind. My wife and separated in 2000 but carefully to retain workable relationships between us and even better relationships between the boys and myself.
This is a great thing you're doing Ben. I've been a teacher and working with parrents since 1982. Since then I've been aching to help parents with the task they have. My latest venture is with a friend, Dixon Hammer, a life coach and together we've developed a site for parents called The Liberated Parent (www.theliberatedparent.com - if you're interested).
My aim is to allow parents mentoring- ongoing focussed support. I think youve achieved something similarin a different way. Good on You.
